Two More Andy Roberts Songs

So last Wednesday April 7th at Havering Folk Club I decided to play two more Andy Roberts Songs, both from the Spanish collecton, in fact written on the same day in the French Pays Basque Pyranees. One comes from the bottom of the mountain and the other from the top. Perhaps one day I'll write a song for the little rack and pinion mountain railway that connects the two.

Requests at Havering Folk Club

It's always nice to get requests because (A) it suggests that somebody likes my songs and (B) it saves me having to decide what to play. The only problem is I've got two request from one person and the songs really deserve to be played on two different guitars, which is more than I can be bothered to carry for a normal singers night at Havering Folk Club. So I'm in the position of having one saved up for later, which is fine.
Last night then, we had a large number of floor singers - 19 I think, including some new people like Fanny Feeney

I played my own song "Blue" as a request and then a Bob Dylan classic, Just like a Woman. I'm sure I got the lines to verses one and two mixed up but only John would notice that :-)

Pete Grassby night at Havering Folk Club

It was a Pete Grassby guest night at Havering Folk Club last night and we were treated to some delightful music and singing, including a few tunes on a large hammered dulcimer, melodeon and guitar. It was a quiet night, but pleasantly entertaining, with less floor spots than usual.

Half Finished Songs

I've been on holiday in Scotland and managed to do a little bit of work on my half finished songs, not much, but a bit. It was great having a guitar with me on holiday. I'll have to make sure I can find a way to do that when I fly as well. Travel guitar I suppose.

Blue is 90% finished so I need to record that now.

When the waters rise is coming on.

I played Blue at the Havering folk club upon my return, followed by Norwegian Wood. Next week I might join in the idea of doing something from Oh Brother Where Art Thou , hence My Dear Someone which isn't actually in the film, but is from the CD of the concert by the people from the soundtrack of the film.
